DEAR NANNA -- FOR SOME TIME WE HAVE NOT WANTED TO BELIEVE THE RUMORS ABOUT THE DEATH OF ASGER BUT ONE CAN NO LONGER -- WE ARE SO DISTRESSED THAT WE CAN SAY NOTHING ELSE -- WE HOPE TO SEE YOU IN PARIS -- WE EMBRACE YOU.
Alice and Guy Debord
It was through the 3 May 1973 edition of Le Monde that Guy Debord had to learn of the death of Asger Jorn. His last letter, addressed on 19 March to Alice and Guy Debord in Italy, which announced to them that he had been diagnosed with cancer, didn't arrive until July of that year.
