Les Cahiers du Cinéma to Champ Libre
Paris, 23 June 1980
Sir,

We will soon publish a special issue of Cahiers du Cinéma in homage to Alfred Hitchcock and we would like to include in it the interviews with him that were published in La Politique des auteurs[1] and originally appeared in issues 42 and 102 of our journal.

We ask you for the authorization to do so, as was done last year with the interview with Jean Renoir, which you were kind enough to allow us to reprint in a volume.

Hoping for a favorable response on your part, we are

Sincerely yours
Serge Daney

Champ Libre to Les Cahiers du Cinéma
24 July 1980
Sir,

As you will recall, we were wrong to permit you to publish a text that appeared in a work by Champ Libre.[1] This is why we have decided to give you no more authorizations.

Sincerely yours,
Gérard Lebovici

[1] Unfortunately we know nothing of what happened in this instance.
