from Guy Debord

To the groups of the Lyon Alliance[1]
8 May 1968
Comrades:

Your circular of 5 April 1968 appears to us to call for a great number of critiques, principally due to the fundamental contradiction between the radical content that you indicate ("an international councilist organization") and the completely opposed or confusionist positions of the majority of the invited groups.

We judge it sufficient, in what concerns us, to hold to this objection: several of the invited groups have been cited in the publications of the SI as unworthy of dialogue, incompatible with our goals and methods. We always place our actions in accord with our declarations.

Sincerely,

For the SI,
[Guy] Debord, [Mustapha] Khayati, [Rene] Vienet

(Written on the letterhead of the Situationist International.)
